Framed under original glass, late 19thC Victorian full Chromolithograph portrait of Queen Victoria by William Griggs, the inventor of Photo-Chromo-Lithography and Chromolithographer to the Queen.
Her most gracious majesty Victoria, Queen of Great Britain and Empress of India. Published 1887, after a Royal portrait of Queen Victoria as a widow completed by Von Angeli in 1885. Victoria is dressed in what became familiar, her mourning dress attire.
Published to celebrate Queen Victoria's Jubilees, in 1887 and 1897.
Strong colours throughout creating a good sense of depth to the composition and a commanding size (68cm wide x 98cm overall height) making an ideal focal point.
At some point in its history the border of the print has been colour washed in a light cream wash, possibly to refresh the perimeter. The main print area is unaffected, colours are true.
The antique framing benefits from its original back boards still being present.
