The company's name capitalized on the popularity of Turkish and Egyptian cigarettes. 
 
Abdulla cigarettes were marketed as glamorous and luxurious, rather than exotic. 
The packets included a disclaimer that said, "Abdulla is and always has been an entirely British Firm”
