Smart original example, antique Officers Campaign Chest in solid teak.
This item was purchased along with other effects belonging to Sir Reginald Arthur Gamble (born 1862) who was educated at Balliol College Oxford University. He joined the Indian Civil Service in 1881 and had a distinguished career at the forefront of the Financial Department. He was an accomplished tennis player who took part in several Wimbledon Championships. He retired in 1918 after the death of his son. He went on to work in China for four years returning to England before he died in 1930.
Ribbed hinged lid design including original travel label and personalised lettering H. Fyffe present. Carry handles to each end, brass fittings, lock and original key present. Opening to clean, ready to use interior with storage compartment.
Historical repairs to longitudinal shrinkage cracks (normal for solid wood pieces stored in countries/places with fluctuating temperature/humidity).
