Male Buzzard - Immature Plumage drawn with fresh prey.

A well executed hand coloured lithographed plate after Edward Neale, published 1881, some age related spotting present.

Commissioned for the publication titled ‘Rough notes on the birds observed during twenty-five years’ shooting and collecting in the British Islands’ - Edward Thomas Booth.

Edward Booth was a wealthy bird-watcher and sportsman who stuffed his own specimens and mounted them in their natural surroundings in glass cases. It was these specimens, now in the Brighton Museum, which Neale (1833-1904) used for his incredible drawings.

Neale was born in Speen Berkshire, his first colour works were published in works by the highly respected Ornithologist Henry Dresser.
